hey just wondering how big a hole im gona have to drill in the carb slide for it to open correctly with no airbox? any ideas?

Aaaaaa  what I think everyone is questioning is how you said it.

You're asking if the carb needs Mod's for the increased air flow.  

On some of the older carbs, the slide was the throttle so air flow could be restricted by too small an opening.  But.....the LS650 carb is of moderate modern design and has reserve flow so no need to cut.....  But a rejet may be in order....

ok so just need to re-jet then, iv got a sportster type silencer could u advise me on what size jets im gona need? thanks :)

I wouldn't advise more than 1 or 2 sizes up initially.  I've got a few extra #150 mains which is 2 sizes up.  I'm thinking shipping across the pond would be cost prohibitive though...

The white spacer mod may be all you need...
