Title: Rejetted carb, but still WOT dead zone Post by Mattdw on 09/05/08 at 11:37:46 All, Have a '96 Savage, all OEM stuff, air filter, muffler. I bought Lancer's kit and installed the 150 main jet, and all 3 washers for the spacer mod. Lowest and mid-range throttle are perfect. However, with WOT, still have a dead zone, almost as if there were too much fuel flowing. Can this be right ? If I put back my original jet, which I believe was a 145, can I leave the pilot jet in that came with the Lancer kit ? What change in behavior might I expect ? On a positive note, the BIG BANG is gone, but I still need the WOT throttle response. |

So, fuel circuits that react to throttle position are: 0 to 1/4 throttle: pilot / low speed screw & Jet 1/8 to 3/4 throttle: needle position (spacers) 3/4 to WOT the size of Main jet. With that said, the 150 should be ok with a stock setup. The WOT is a stumper, how is it a 7/8 throttle? In other words, go to WOT and then roll it back a little....... Also, check the plug. Too much fuel will be black. But if you replced the pilot jet, then it might be black from too much fuel at slow speed. |

Title: Re: Rejetted carb, but still WOT dead zone Post by Reelthing on 09/05/08 at 12:53:12 by they way - how much of a dead spot? - just a little bit - say like the last 1/8 of the throttle - or anything past 1/2 throttle doesn't do much - so how dead is dead |

Yeah, I would say the last 1/8 of the throttle. |

Last 1/8 is bad...rolling off and I get immediate pickup. I did change the spark plug to an Iridium plug. Would that make a diff ? |
Title: Re: Rejetted carb, but still WOT dead zone Post by Mattdw on 09/05/08 at 13:18:15 Oh, FYI, I don't recall the 'dead zone' with the stock main jet and pilot jet, but I would get the BIG BANG, which is my main reason for rejetting when i could not get rid of it with adjusting the air bleed |
