Title: BOBBER completed (pics now without head covers)
Post by strangeling on 09/01/08 at 15:04:32

Well I have just finished my 07 S40 bobber project and thought I would share some pics. When my rear tire wears out I'll replace it with a wider 150 size tire but I think otherwise I'm done.

Great Job on your bike. 8-)

Nice!...clean lines,..I'd remove the chrome head covers,...other than that I like the whole package...
Any rear fender rubbing?...is the chain convert hard?...

Very nice indeed and I don't usually like bobbers (more of a chopper fan myself) but if she were mine, I would be more than proud to ride her.

Thanks for the compliments guys, I'm pretty happy with how it all turned out.

flcruzr the forward controls are seeger cycle

serowbot the chain conversion was cake, I just followed the tech section and no rub on the rear fender although I do have my shocks set at the stiffest position. I might check it out without the chrome head covers or maybe just paint em black along with the battery cover.

Beautiful bike. So... Serowbot, you got any pics of one without the chrome head covers?

Here's a couple of pics with the chrome head covers removed.

Give me your thoughts keep em off or put em back on !

I would post the pics directly but I keep getting a red X instead of the pics for some reason.

Here ya go. By the way. Keep them off, I think it gives it the retro look I believe you were going for.

Nice work! Bike looks great. I can't wait to start bobbing mine...

That looks great! Have you seen the cone filter install by Holodeck? Just search "cone filter install" and you should be able to find it. I think that would look great on yours. I plan on doing mine next  mod.

texassavage95 I actually had been running holodeks side mount air filter mod for a long time and only took it off the other day. I really do like the look of that mod but I just want to have the bike as simplistic as possible true to a bobber.

I took my head covers off a while back. It's so much fun watching people walk around the bike muttering to themselves "What the hell is this?" I think the covers kind of give it away.  :D

Very nice strangeling! I love it without the head covers! I'll do mine this weekend. If anyone knows, or you strange, what is the breather on the left side above the battery? Can't quite figure it out (scratches head)

You're welcome,... it's just a preference, I'm sure many people like the covers on, but the sans look, tops your bike beautifully.  As a bonus,..plug checks are cake!
Great work!  Enjoy your baby, she's a sweety!

For those interested, here's mine with no covers, it's a silver top...

Strange, how much of a difference did you feel after adding the fork brace? I am thinking about it, but not sure.

I think I saw somewhere on this site someone makes them. Is that the preferred method, or are they bought at an online store somewhere?

texassavage95,

The forkbrace does make a lot of difference in stability and I especially noticed it on the freeway plus I think they look cool.

The one offered on this site at one time was the Tkat forkbrace which is the one I have or you can get one made by Superbrace.

Is the one you have the exact one that you have the link for? If so how much was it?

I honestly don't recall how much it was but email tkat@tkat.com and see if he still has any fork braces for the Savage.
