Hi

Hello every one I’ve been looking to get new muffler for my Savage and I run into this e-bay seller D-Z CUSTOM CYCLE WORKS so I just wanted to know opinions, So should I get his muffler offer or should I skip him. I also checked the Dyna and Sporster muffler offers as well.

If you are looking for Dyna or Sportster, go to your local Harley dealer and ask if they have any "take offs".
Do NOT call.. go there, to the service dept.
When a lot of people by HDs, the first thing they do is change the exhaust. So, the dealer has the OEMs just laying around sometimes.
I just had to replace my sportster muffler (baffles blew out), and got one for free from a local dealership!

Look at his installation instructions for his Harley mufflers: "Bend the bracket, drill a hole, use the Savage clamp." There seems to be a lot of different Harley mufflers that are being sold for the Savage and many of them require alterations and even welding. Mine was bought from Ebay and required NO alterations or welding. Beware using the Savage clamp...some members have had problems getting it to work properly with the Harley muffler. Mine came with a Harley clamp and works great. Do a search on this site and you will find a wealth of info including the correct part numbers.

I've bought stuff from DZ a few times with no problems at all. They seem to be one of the "good guys." IMHO

But as suggested by others, there are cheaper but less handy ways to get a muffler. And fitting the HD takeoff mufflers can be more or less difficult depending on which model you get. And I have broken down and welded one muffler to header pipe because the joint was giving me headaches with leaking. Other cases I've used heavy duty clamps with or without shimming and had no problems. I've fitted several muffler/header combos, and they're just a case-by-case basis. Good luck.
