Title: Turn signal problems
Post by ja01 on 08/16/08 at 18:30:35

I am new Rider I have an 05 S40 with 2600 miles on. I took a 500 mile ride last weekend. About 100 miles into the ride I noticed my Right turn signal was not working. About the 300 mile mark both turn signals were not working. The bulbs are good. both fronts burn with the head lights but I have no Signal. I can't seem to locate the problem. Everything else on the bike works just fine. Thanks in advance.

Do the indicators on speedo head light up? Do the rear lamps light up ? Do they flash? If yes check both frount bulbs. If none of the  above. check fuse under seat.

Viper thanks for the advice. The indicators on speedo and rear are both dead. How many fuses are there I found 2 20 amp fuses but they are both good. One was for the starter and one for the running lights. Thanks

If I recall correctly, the flasher is that square box right in front of the gas tank bumper.  It says 1224950 on it.

Must be nice to have emergency flashers....  :-[

JA01,
Did I see you say no lights and the fuses are good....  If the fuses are truely good (looks real close....) then you have a disconnected plug somewhere.  Main culprit is a big fat one under the tank.

I like the E flashers if someone gets to close I just put them on an they backoff if they get to close again a do it again by then they know why I'm doing it.

I'm thinking about mounting a rear-firing paintball gun just above my saddlebags for the same purpose. Kind of a Bat-cycle feature. Maybe I can link it to the e-flashers, and figure out a way to time it with a backfire.

Could have used the paintball gun yesterday when I was sitting in the front position at an intersection and saw an ambulance with lights flashing coming towards the intersection. My light changed to green but I sat there waiting for the ambulance. Some bozo behind me was playing loud rap music in his car and he beeped at me. I looked at him and turned on my e-flashers. Then he beeped again and pulled within 2 feet of me. I turned around and pointed to my eyes and then to the ambulance approaching. When he finally figured it out he just shrugged his shoulders.

Arghhhhh!....   pressing e-flasher....loading compressed  gas,,,,paintball round dropping into chamber....splatttttttt! Take that rapper boy...

I suspect that flash to pass and e-flashers were done in 2005 the same time as the switch to S40 from the much catchier Savage.

The Clymers shows it on the 2004 wiring diagram.
