Title: carburator hose?
Post by savage_sax on 08/14/08 at 17:39:19

First of all, thanks to all of you who have posted info on this forum.  I've learned much and had the courage to try some repairs on my newly purchased '96 Savage I might not have otherwise.

My question is this.  After replacing my spark plug I noticed a hose coming off the carburetor that I can't figure where the other end goes.  The hose in question is part #21 in the carburetor assembly diagram on page 188 in the Clymer manual.  Does it connect to anything else, or is it some kind of vent or breather hose?

Yeah, that's one of two bowl vents.  Should be one on the other side of the carb too.  They run up into the frame in front of and above the carb.  They just terminate in that hollow spot in the frame.

If you have Savage Greg's Companion CD, look at "Carb_Parts_04."  There is a good picture with labels for all those hoses.

That is a vent line, there should be two of them, one on each side. They don't connect to anything, they just run up under the seat.

Thanks for the info.  I'll be sure to pick up the CD.
