Title: Helmet Preference Post by flcruzr on 08/13/08 at 21:11:07 What are your helmet preferences? Full face or open face? I have an HJC open face/half helmet with add on face shield...I will be getting a full face for added protection. |

A pickup in front of me kicked up a couple rocks on my way to work this morning. One hit me in the shoulder (still hurts) the other hit the chin bar of the helmet. :o I don't want to imagine what it would have felt like if I didn't have the full face helmet on. |

There was nothing more comforting when I went down recently than seeing the gravel sliding by on the other side of the visor. I'm throwing the Skid Lid away. Judging by damage to the back of the helmet, I'm sure it saved my life. I never lost consciousness nor even had a headache or anything. |

It gets stuffy regardless of "cracking it open" 3. Its no fun to have to play "red light, green light" with your visor. 4. The reflections on the inside on a sunny day are EXTREMELY distracting 5. If I wanted glass in front of my face, I would drive a car. |

The thing I really don't like about full face helmets is the extreme amount of extra wind drag on your head. If there are a lot of bugs or sand blowing in the wind I just use a bandanna. |
