Post by mick on 08/13/08 at 19:45:15

Mine came in the mail today,I all ready had a gasket ,so I went to work, after changing it I noticed it went back to the excact same spot as the old one, finnaly I get it , it does not wear out ,it's the chain that wears out all I really needed was Verslagens mod,so come the 1st of the month (ssDay) I will send it to you Verslagen for the $60 mod,I will need your address (PM ME ) will a postal money order work ? when I send it I will know how much to add for shipping.
Stupid me I was under the impression it was the tensioner that wore out.
PS the old one was just a tad over half way extended

That's good to know. I too though that the tensioner, as well as the chain wore out.

If the old one was half way extended (14mm? the range is about 9 to 18mm ) then you have a long way to go before something happens.

When you get your tensioner mod'd, continue with it at the 1st hole until near the end of travel then go to the second.

Next on my things to do, is to check chain stretch around the chain and not in just one place.  In whatever amount of chain that's accessable thru the clutch cover, measure the distance over X number of links, rotate the engine abit and repeat until you've gone around once.  I'll have to calculate what X number compares to the stated wear limits.
