Title: Kay found herself a Savage.
Post by Sandy Koocanusa on 08/13/08 at 17:41:11

It's a 2005, pearl white in color, with 2500 or so miles on it.  Comes with the OEM windshield and "Saddleman" saddle bags.  I haven't even seen it yet.  She called me on the phone at work to tell me about it.  I guess the guy will have the title all signed tomorrow, so she'll pay the man and bring home her new baby then.

It's pretty cool how it happened.  She sold her bike yesterday.  The nearest Savage on Craigslist was in Boise, Idaho, which is 500+ miles from here.  Kay decided that was too far to ride pillion on my bike, so that was a no go.  Feisty Limited spotted this one sitting next to the road in town with a "for sale" sign and called Kay up.

I hope I have all my facts straight.  I was dodging heavy equipment while she told me about it on the phone.  Anyway, YAHOO!  Now we'll be able to travel together at a little more efficient pace, hopefully.

I'll get some pictures up tomorrow after work.

Yay!! Go Kay!

Her's might actually look better than yours now.  ;)

Oh, I doubt there will be any "might" needed in that sentence.  Like I said, I haven't seen it, but I know my girl.  She wouldn't buy something as "serviceable" as my bike.

The "B" sounds good after "Sandy's," doesn't it?  Hmmm...  What is the proper biker vernacular for a man's woman?   I can't quite nail it down right now.  Oh well.  We'll think of something.

She's going to whack me with a heavy object if she reads what I just said.  Then she can go by "Sandy's Widow." ;D

Me too! That's exactly the bike I just bought, love the pearl white. Just added a Thumper decal to the tank :)
Had a 1995 Savage a couple of years ago, felt I had to trade up to the S50. Never was confidant on it so I wasn't riding much. Last month I saw this S40 for sale, bought it, love it and I am riding everyday.
Sold the S50. I am a happy rider again!

Here it is folks...  Kay's new bike.  It's getting rave reviews already.  Such as "I got it up to 65 with no problem, even on the big hill by the cross!"  The old GZ250 wasn't cutting it in the hill department.  You ought to see the grin on Kay's face.

The front tire is a little cracked, so it'll have to go.  It's a shame, because the tread looks brand new.  The P.O. dropped some swimming trunks on the muffler, so a little Eazy-Off is in order.  Other than that, it looks great.  Can't hear the valves, so I'll probably open it up this weekend and look those over.  It never had its initial service.

With Kay, Feisty Limited, and her husband all bringing home new Savages lately, it might be time for the first annual LittleBird Maintenance Festival right here in my yard.  A little game of "torque and feeler," as it were.

I tried.  She said "No!  I look terrible."  I'm too tired to argue tonight.  I'll get a shot when she's all spiffed up and willing to pose.

Or hide behind a corner with your camera when she decides she wants to go for a ride, and snap a pic as she is settling onto it.  ;) ;)

Nice looking by the way.

I remember when mine looked exactly like that. I still like the look of the stock savage but I couldn't leave well enough alone. I hope it gives Kay years of enjoyment.

You can tell her I said that too ;)

The bike is gorgeous! Were those saddle bags on her other bike?
(Yonuh did have a excellent idea though ;)

The bags, windshield, and engine guard came with this bike.  They are Saddlemen bags and OEM parts.  I think we did alright.  She talked the guy down to $200 under book value.

I was lucky to get her on it and smiling.  Half the family is over here to look at it.  It's hotter than the hinges outside.  And I have a piece of carpentry detritus lodged in my right eye.  That's gonna have to do it for now.

We are hoping to take a ride with Feisty Limited and company soon.  I'll try to get some good pics then.

I'm satisfied with the pic....I mean it is a pic of her on her new MC :)
When you get the debris out of your eye,can you tell me what kind of camera you use?
Thanks :)

FreeSpirit, it's a Minolta Dimage Z1.  It's about 5 years old.  10 power optical zoom plus 4 power digital.  Shoots movies at 30 fps with sound.  Runs on 4 AA batteries.  It's a pretty handy camera, but quite a bit larger than the cigarette pack-sized ones they are building these days.  I believe Konica Minolta is still building the Dimage, but they are up to something like Z12 now.

I'd buy it again.  It's been a good one.

Kay is a lucky girl!  And you, Sandy, are one lucky guy.  :)

Looks like you live on a beautiful ranch.  Can life get much better?

Congratulations on your new addition.  [smiley=beer.gif]

Sandy:

You'll have to start the "Big Fork Big Thumper Club"

Kay and her bike look great. They fit each other to a tee.

We just left Feisty Limited's house, where there are two Savages and now a GZ250 nestled in the stable.  We were laughing about that very concept.  It might be the highest concentration of Savages around.  I know that Rockin' John has three of his own.  If you count my parts bike, we have five in a quarter mile.  Even our local dealer can't match that.

Hmmm... I wonder if four Savages can be seen from outer space if you polish the chrome really well?  Might be the ninth wonder in the making...

Can you get them all in a line, out in a nice field, with the dusk sun hitting them just so?

We can use it for the first spread in "Savage Erotica"

Hey I think that sounds good!  Hey Sandy K What do ya think about that.?    Kay's Bike looks awesome!  Sounds good too.  I think the 07 S40 is really white but Kay's 05 is called white but is a pretty cool pearl color.  Makes a big difference.
Maybe Sandy should start a thread about our new club name?? hmmmm
