Title: Wild Question
Post by Red_Wine on 08/07/08 at 14:18:04

Hello fellow Savagers,

I know it may sound strange, but do you think a 400cc cylinder may be bored to 650cc?

I wonder if I can use the cylinder I have and adapt it to accept a 650 piston and the corresponding head and valves.

I ask because the engines are very similar, but I am not sure if my 400 has enough "meat" to take that kind of machining...

Food for thought...

Thanks,

RW

Compare the bore and stroke between the 2 and I think you'll see that the stroke is different between the 2.

And if you did bore it out from 400 to 650, I think the piston will be visible.  I know it's a stretch to go from 650 to 700 on ours.

The LS650 is a square 94mm x 94mm bore x stroke.
What is the LS400??

As far as I know the 400 is a short stroke 650.

... and if that is the case, you need a 650 cylinder and 650's crankshaft, to push/pull piston up and down further...

Maybe a few other pieces...
