Title: Carb trouble...........fixed
Post by Toymaker on 08/05/08 at 08:41:03

When Lancer was at my house this past weekend, he re-jetted my carb.  I guess he didn't like the popping from my UNBAFFLED shorty exhaust.

We went up one size on the main and the pilot.  We had trouble dialing it in.  He even removed the adjustment screw (the covered one by the infamous brass plug) and looked at it.  "I think your tip is broken."  But because we didn't have anoother one...back it went.  Well yesterday, I tried to ride but the old girl just wouldn't run right...only if I had the choke out one notch.

I ended up removing the carb, and the adjustment screw/spring/washer/o-ring.  I put the screw under the hypermagnifyer the old S. Claus uses for his TINY parts (my reading glasses and a magnifying glass) and low and behold, the tip wasn't broken, it just had a burr on the end.  I removed the burr and tipped the carb on its side.  Out came a ultra-small piece of GLASS.  Apparently, when the screw was removed, it allowed the glass to go before the screw in the flow....causing adjustment to be unavailable.  I re-adjusted the screw this morning and took a screwdriver with me.  After about 6 adjustment stops...my old girl runs like H*LL...

Thank you Lancer for the jets and the advice (which is priceless)

So, be sure to check allthe places in the carb before chucking the old one out...you never know what lurks inside. :)
