Title: Pics of sissy bars
Post by socal40 on 08/04/08 at 09:58:20

Does any one have pics of thier sissybars with a luggage rack? I'm looking to buy one and would like to know if there are universal  8-)options out there.

If you have the Suzuki sissybar, I believe you'll need to mount the Suzuki luggage rack for it to be a "bolt on" option.

There are other ones out there... In fact, someone just fabricated a rack from a Home Depot purchased product, but they will probably not bolt up without a little fabrication.

This one is homemade.  It doesn't answer your question, but I rarely get an opportunity to show it off.

I think I had the suzuki sissybar.  There's a total of 4 holes for bolts, 2 on each side, so that you can raise and lower it.  I raised it so that 2 holes were sticking out.

I bought some bolts to fit in those holes and 2 10" corner braces and a little corner brace.

I attached the arms of the two larger corner braces in the middle with the little one, which made a U shape (with a doubly thick bottom of the U) with a little corner brace tail sticking out in the center of the base of the U.

I attached the U in the way you would probably guess to the two holes sticking out on the sissy bar, and used that little tail looking corner brace with an old sock under it to rest against the fender behind the stock taillight on my '05.

Very good and very cheap (under 15 bucks) luggage rack that's got little holes for tying things off all down its sides (holes intended to bolt the brace to a corner).  This luggage rack can be extended in length very easily too because of those many holes down its side (just run a little straight bar they sell in Lowe's next to corner braces down the arms of the U to lengthen it if necessary, again bolting them together with the many holes its's got down its side.)

It looks very good, I'll go get some pictures in a while if anyone wants them.  Also has supported a little box trunk with 50 lbs in it.

There's the standard Suzuki sissybar and rack there, right under the tail trunk!

Thanks -- that photo pretty much shows all the "mods" so far:

Pillow top seat, engine tipover bars, sissybar and rack from Suzuki
Hagon shocks
Superbrace
Dowco tail bag
Leather fork bag
Marlin's Talon mount clock
Pigtail for the Battery Tender Jr.
Tail of the Dragon sticker -- I've ridden it twice, but don't own either bike I rode it on any more, so I gotta get back there!

I'll be adding a verslagy once it's off warantee.

Now I just have to resist the temptation to overdo the accessories and just ride the durned thang! ;D

(And get some new photos without all the snow!  Especially now that it's over 90 degrees Farenheit!)  8-)

I was told the rack came from a CB750.......  It origianlly had a move-able sissy bar too.  That went on my Honda CM250C......
