Title: Springer front end Post by mpescatori on 07/22/08 at 01:28:26 You all think this Springer front end might fit the Savage? http://kcint.zoovy.com/c=9LyIlEoImoVo8UHpIaC8UKJn0/category/springer_front_ends/ http://static.zoovy.com/img/kcint/-/_i_02_2a_6b_05_1 Standard length (whatever than means) or 2", 4" extended. They also say IF YOUR STOCK FORK MEASURES: 19-21" YOU SHOULD USE THE 2" UNDER STOCK ASSEMBLY 21-23" YOU SHOULD USE THE STOCK 22" ASSEMBLY 23-25" YOU SHOULD USE THE 2" OVER STOCK ASSEMBLY 25-27" YOU SHOULD USE THE 4" OVER STOCK ASSEMBLY THIS CHART MAY BE USED TO CALCULATE SPRINGERS UP TO 18" BY ADDING 2" INCREMENTS TO THESE SIZES (THESE MEASUREMENTS ARE FROM THE BOTTOM OF YOUR LOWER HEAD CUP TO THE CENTER OF THE AXLE) PLEASE DO ADDITIONAL RESEARCH BEFORE BUYING, AS THIS SPRINGER FRONT END IS NON-RETURNABLE ??? 8-) |
Title: Re: Springer front end Post by mpescatori on 07/22/08 at 01:39:12 I also found this... :D http://static.zoovy.com/img/kcint/-/19008_ REALLY makes my mouth water... So... what's the drive ratio on the Savage? This one's 1:1 (so they claim) so if the savage is 1:1, I get a new speedo, if the ratio is 1.6:1, I get a KM reading :D and who wants to ride any faster than 120Km/h (75mph) ??? |
Title: Re: Springer front end Post by Sandy Koocanusa on 07/22/08 at 04:52:52 I thought in Italy you shifted out of first at 75. ;) I like that too. Is it the right size to drop it in the same hole? |
Title: Re: Springer front end Post by klx650sm2002 on 07/22/08 at 05:36:59 I like the combined speedo/rev counter. Clive W :) |
Title: Re: Springer front end Post by mpescatori on 07/22/08 at 06:28:56 Yep ! Looks gerat ! Now... that speedo drive ratio... PLEEESE ??? |
Title: Re: Springer front end Post by Violent_Rage on 07/24/08 at 07:23:11 hey! Are you come back from u.s. full of ideas & projects? ;) |
Title: Re: Springer front end Post by Lord Eoin on 07/24/08 at 13:11:37 The Springer listed has a 1 inch stem. I don't think it will work unless you remove your original neck and weld on a Chopper style neck. People got the Sportster (7/8 inch) necks to work on the XS-650 Yamahas by swapping roller bearings and races, but with the 1 Inch neck, they could not find bearings to fit. JMHO |
Title: Re: Springer front end Post by rigidchop on 07/24/08 at 16:41:29 you can press out the stem, it should work. you'll need a new front wheel or a custom axle with new spacers. |
Title: Re: Springer front end Post by YonuhAdisi on 07/24/08 at 17:31:59 When I put on my Girder front end, it had a 7/8 neck stem, but I used the stock Savage stem in it's place. All I did was make some spacers and I re-used the stock bearings, all they needed was repacking with grease. I know I don't have any pics of the install but I THINK, I did a decent enough job of describing it in this thread. http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?num=1213856449 |
Title: Re: Springer front end Post by mpescatori on 07/25/08 at 03:57:14 OK, I understand now the internal diameter of the neck stem is 7/8 inch ? And the external diameter of the springer's neck stem is 1 inch ? :-/ Doesn't look feasible... :'( |

No. Just use the original stem. It is press fit. AFAIK most of the German springer Savages use original stems. |
