Title: Rear sprocket
Post by Texas-1-lunger on 07/18/08 at 20:05:17

I've looks over the site and havent found what im looking for.

My rear sprocket i loose like it wobbles from side to side, My question is is this a normal thing that needs to be addressed as far a preventive maintenance or is it a freak thing the bike just turned 3000 miles and it seems too early for something like this to happen.

Is there a way to fix it such as a faulty set of bearings getting ordered or something to be tightened?

I just put new cushions in mine that go between the sprocket carrier and wheel hub. Took over a 1/4" inch of backlash out of the sidecar tug. There are also bearings in the hub and carrier but they are low failure rate items. I've also put cushions in my 39,000 miles bagger at about 25K. They do compress and give some backlash. Max

If you don't mind let me know what you find out when you tear it apart. I was riding mine this weekend and noticed that the rearend felt loose at times. I found out that my rear sprocket is loose just like yours. I don't know if that is what is causing the loose feeling or not but it sure can't be helping it.thanks
