Title: Saddlebags
Post by suzukigrl on 07/17/08 at 15:42:02

I am looking at buying some saddlebags so that I can ride my 2007 S40 to work. I have to carry a couple different binders for work and can drive up to 400 miles round trip to work. I have talked to some people and they said that getting anything but the suzuki saddlebag will drag in the wind and not make the bike easy to ride but I want to be able to ride to work anyone have any ideas? What are the biggest bag you would suggest to add on it.

200 miles to work???  You don't need saddlebags.  You need an airplane.

Willie and Max Compact Slant bags get good reviews for the S40.

Gotta get up pretty early for that commute. ;D

Somedays I would agree with the airplane. Makes for a nice long ride to spend about 3 hours there to head right back. Anyway, Willie and Max are great that is exactly what I was looking at, the smaller black magic ones. Thank you

I bet they are glad you ride a bike then, I can imagine the gas bill if you were in a cage.

I have a set of RiverRoad compact slant bags on mine and like them. They fit good and I don't notice any difference in how the bike handles with or without the bags on.

Does anyone know if the Suzuki saddlebags are any good?  I know they are slim but I wouldnt need them to carry much stuff in them, so was just wondering if anyone owned them in here???

Feisty Limited has a set of them.  You can try to catch her when she's online and see what she thinks of them.

I have a set of suzuki bags  and was very disappointed with the size of them. On one side I would put my rain gear and that was about all that would fit in there. On the other side I would put my thermos of coffe for work. That was about all I could carry with them. The way the top of the bag opened, it made it difficult to get stuff in and out. After a year and a half, I  went with some hard bags. They are still a little too small but alot bigger than the suzuki bags.

I had my saddle bags custom made here :

http://www.lutzsleather.com/index2.html

The are patterned for the VL800, but were a direct fir for my LS650.

They're big enough that I was able to carry 2 5000 sq.ft. bags of fertilizer home on each side!

Do yourself a favor.  Skip the cheapie bags.  They don't last and they're not even big enough to put in a pair of shoes...

Are the lights hooked up in your bags and if so are they bright enough to serve the purpose for turn signals?

I had the lights hooked upas turn signals but the led's weren't bright enough during the day. Before I got the hard bags I had a set of mini bullet led signals and they weren't bright enough either. So what i did was to hook the red led's up to the brake light and added a set of non-led amber lens flush mount signals that I mounted to the hard bags. Much better turn signals, and the red led's seem alot brighter as brake lights.
