Title: Something Useful From Project Leftovers
Post by Bear_Rider on 07/15/08 at 13:30:06

It turns out that the old cliche about bright ideas ocurring in the shower can be true. The other morning, I had just such a brainstorm.

Question:

What can you make from a leftover piece of scrap steel, a u-bolt, foam strips, and some rubber bands?

Answer:

A very servicable GPS mount.

In this case, the middle rubber band is positioned between the two parts of the "highway" screen that I normally use.  For other screens, I would move it up above the display.

Note that the landyard is tied to the bars to the right of the GPS. I trust this mount, but I'm not careless.  ;D

So far I have put about 70 high speed miles on this without any trouble.

I'm old school.  My mom made me eat magnetic dirt...so now when I float in a pool, I always point north.

:D

There's one VERY nice feature of having the GPS mounted where you can see it.

You can always tell how far you have come since you filled up.  ;D
