Title: Put my Wolo Bad boy on.
Post by Toymaker on 07/02/08 at 12:58:08

I used the existing horn bracket.  Wired the relay into the horn circuit.  Ran a hot off the battery and also a dedicated ground from the battery too.  Attached the relay to one of the bolts that holds the bracket on.

Using the existing horn circuit means that the horn won't sound without the key on.

MAN IS IT LOUD!!!!!

;D

Does it look silly?  I mean the 1000 watt Honda generator on the luggage rack of the 650 watt Suzuki Savage. :)

I looked at those, but I am really gun shy about amperage.  I have a considerably higher draw headlight than Suzuki intended.  Hope it works well for you.  Sounds like a fun widget.

I generally try to maintain a low, polite profile when I'm on the road, but I've gotten behind a couple of little blue-haired ladies lately that might have benefitted from a high volume honk or two.

Nah...doesn't look silly at all.  If yopu didn't know, you would prolly miss it.  It is about 1 inch wider (deeper) than stock and maybe 5 inches by 5 inches.  It was an easy fit...will try to take a photo or two.

Auto Zone didnt have alot to choose from .

Mine is a Blazer Horn-High tone. States,maximum sound...immediately responsive.

Mine is black.

Glad no relay is needed.

Should be easy then to put on!

I'm all for the horn upgrade... stock horn sounds like a gnat with a nasal condition! I put on a Stebel Nautilus (139 db of RAW sound). I was coming up on a railroad crossing and fired off this baby and an oncoming freight train even stopped ... just kidding but that baby is loud!!!!

Have no idea if this is like Toymakers or not...probably not,but pretty loud:

Ah,the relay is to save the horn switch from arching under  high current.

But...what kind of relay do I get?

Believe it or not I asked the guy at Auto Zone and he didnt know!
(The good guys must be on vacation....havent seen them in a while)

Is this the same guy? Anyway shows him putting on the air horn...Instructions.

Well,I had the link and forgot to post it ::) But he is on YouTube and shows how to put the air horn on the bike....good instructions,if needed.

I don't use the horn at all,If you don't use it much and don't hold it on long you can put a cheap 6 volt horn on,It will be a lot louder.

I've also put two stock horns side by side and tune them different,You can get a good sound that way.

This one is a 12 volt!

I hope I wont have to use it much, just nice to know its there if needed.

And maybe use for the DEER!! Although it may scare them stiff right in front of me...LOL.

Humph!  I screeched to a stop the other night between two deer, horn blaring.  They both looked at me like "What's your beef, dude?"  Then they turned and sauntered off in separate directions.  I could have kicked either one of them, they were so close.  The wildlife around here is getting a poor attitude.   >:(

Standard is 12 volt thats why the 6 volt is a lot louder but you can burn it out if you hold it on to long.
