Hey everyone!

So i've been lurking this site since I bought my bike which was Thursday 6/20 and think its great. Today I received my IL M class and figured I'd register and say hello.

On cycle trader I found a dealer close to me that was selling a red 2006 s40 for $3199. 4050 miles and one previous owner so I picked it up and have been loving every minute of it. This is my first motorcycle.

I'm located smack dab between Rockford, IL and Chicago off I90 and plan on taking several rides to Lake Geneva, WI w/ my brother since he also has a bike.

Great site and if I have any questions I'll search first, post later ;)

Welcome Chris! I was just up there on my way through to upper Minnesota. Came back home on Tuesday. Passed right by you.

My little Savage did great on the interstate from Louisville to White Earth. Lake Geneva should be great!

Were you the guy in the pickup truck that passed me grinning like a mad man? I figured it had to be a Savage owner. ;)

I'm afraid that wasn't me alittlebird, I have a car that's a nissan :)

Glad your trip went well. What was your average cruising speed on the interstate?

On the way up with the wind it was about 60 but on the way back I did fine at 65. I think I was a little leery of the speed at first but then settled in just fine. The trucks have slowed down but not the cars.

I definitely am not a speeder though. Even in the car - before I sold it - I set the cruise at 65 and left it there. I prefer getting better gas mileage.

I definitely want the vista cruise for trips like that though.

I love my Savage! From day one it's been great. All I've heard is that I'll want a bigger bike but after this trip I really don't see why I would. It performed beautifully. Well I do need a more comfortable seat...

Littlebird did you use much oil on your trip?

No sir I did not. I topped it up a little after they put the new o ring on but it stayed above the 1/2 way mark - about 3/4. I'm going to change it this weekend though.
