Title: My quest for a Savage continues...... Post by Bleemus on 06/17/08 at 17:05:11 Another Savage just went up for sale in the area. 2005 S40 with 7k miles on it. Blue Book is $2800 and the owner has it listed for $3500. I asked her if he would take Blue Book and she said "Right now i would defininatley take that I really need the money to buy another bike that I want". Now for the stupid question. The bike is white. Having been out of motorcycles for about 15 years I was wondering if white was considered a "girls color". I don't mind being diferent but just didn't know what the current world status on bike colors is so give me your HONEST feedback. If I showed up at a Savage Rally would people be snickering at me? Hit me with your best shot! Cheers, Bleemus Here is the bike... http://images.craigslist.org/011510010211011604200806169db94952206d7a081900887d.jpg |
Title: Re: My quest for a Savage continues...... Post by pgman on 06/17/08 at 17:08:38 That looks like an old police bike, which is cool IMO. Definitely not a "girl's color". I'd ride it! Good luck. |
Title: Re: My quest for a Savage continues...... Post by verslagen1 on 06/17/08 at 17:10:09 I don't give a rat's a$$ what other people think, they're gonna snicker till you blow by their HD anyway. Buy it, white is the easiest color to repaint. ;D But I think it's cool the way it is. ;D |
Title: Re: My quest for a Savage continues...... Post by demin on 06/17/08 at 17:21:30 I know there is at least one other white one on here.Al from NH,jrm8486 had a white one, that was a chopper. |
Title: Re: My quest for a Savage continues...... Post by Rogue_Cheddar on 06/17/08 at 17:27:13 Don't worry, white is a great color, lots of pinstriping and decal potential. Last I heard, pink was a girl's color. "Hey! What's the difference between pink and purple? .... The grip! " :D |
Title: Re: My quest for a Savage continues...... Post by sockmonkeygirl on 06/17/08 at 17:28:35 Yeah, it's a girls bike. It's my bike. Hand it over! :P j/k |
Title: Re: My quest for a Savage continues...... Post by forrest on 06/17/08 at 17:37:11 White is a classic color. |
Title: Re: My quest for a Savage continues...... Post by Sandy Koocanusa on 06/17/08 at 17:44:03 I ride a purple bike. Anyone who has a problem with that is welcome to step right up to me and express themself. I also wear jeans from Costco, own a cockapoo, and chew tobacco. I am soooo uncool. But I like me. So screw 'em. |
Title: Re: My quest for a Savage continues...... Post by demin on 06/17/08 at 17:48:40 My '87 is purple metalflake.I also have a custom Ranger GT that's half black, half pepto pink.Had a '71 Challenger that was panther pink(the OL wanted it) |
Title: Re: My quest for a Savage continues...... Post by ALfromN.H. on 06/17/08 at 17:48:45 Yes I like My white 2005. I bought it because of the nice clean look it had, then I went and put decals all over it. I still like it and the decals can come off anytime i want. http://w3.bikepics.com/pics/2008/05/13/bikepics-1287678-800.jpg |
Title: Re: My quest for a Savage continues...... Post by vtail on 06/17/08 at 17:52:44 White is cool and Visible. Same for my helmet (I know i'm opening a can of worms here but I don't G A S) ;D ;D |
Title: Re: My quest for a Savage continues...... Post by Bleemus on 06/17/08 at 17:53:19 Nice bike Al! Ok. you all have convinced me. I am guessing that 7k miles is nothing on these bikes so I will put it on the list. There is a green/white 2000 with 1k miles on it in a garage nearby that I want to buy but the owners disappeared for the last few days. If I don't get that one I will go for this white one. So close to being a Savage I can't stand it! |
Title: Re: My quest for a Savage continues...... Post by Bleemus on 06/17/08 at 18:38:30 Al, if you are still monitoring this thread can you tell me where yo got that seat. It looks more comfortable than the stock seat. I did a search for "sporty motorcycle seat" and didn't find it. |

It's a HD Sportster seat. Search on sportster seat. There's a thread on it in the tech section as well. |
Title: Re: My quest for a Savage continues...... Post by ALfromN.H. on 06/17/08 at 18:44:27 Yup, sportster seat. Not too hard to do. |
Title: Re: My quest for a Savage continues...... Post by Bleemus on 06/17/08 at 18:55:28 Thanks. Just goes to show how long I have been away from bikes. Sporty = Sportster. Got it now. Thanks. |
Title: Re: My quest for a Savage continues...... Post by YonuhAdisi on 06/17/08 at 19:33:35 To answer your question about white being a girl's color, no it's not it looks pretty cool. One of my riding buddies has a white M109R Boulevard and it is very sharp. |
Title: Re: My quest for a Savage continues...... Post by rpgpgmr on 06/17/08 at 19:42:33 Mine is white. I have an '05 and it looks exactly like the one in your post. I'm 6' 239 lbs. If it's a girl's bike, then I'm one big mamma. I have put nearly 8,000 miles on it in a year and have enjoyed every last mile! I ride with bikes of all mfgs and have NEVER had a problem keeping up with any of them. |
Title: Re: My quest for a Savage continues...... Post by FreeSpirit on 06/17/08 at 22:50:58 Mine is White and I'm a girl!....but,I bought it from a guy ;) I do think they are more visible....I have a white jacket and white helmet, for that same reason also. White has never been a girl (only) color,It's cool looking ,to me,no matter who rides a white bike ;) It also reminded me of a police MC when I first saw it.(Think someone mentioned this....looking like a police MC. (I actually thought I was going to have to pry it out of the guys hands who sold it to me ;) Being a girl,I think pink is the only girl color....darn I think someone mentioned this also. |
