Title: Crickets chorus in the wet
Post by Keith_T on 06/15/08 at 20:43:57

Today I rode my Savage for the first time in damp conditions.  When moving it sounded like a chorus of crickets was somewhere on the bike.  When it dried up later in the day the sound was gone, but it was back when it got damp in the evening?  Anyone know what this was from?

What was that singers name? Something and the Crickets.

Maybe just his ghost?

(Sorry,feeling awfully silly tonight ::) ;)

Hope someone knows the real answer :)

I believe the general consensus is that happens when the drive belt is too tight and gets a little wet, although the Suzuki provided tool probably says the tension is just right.  Try the 90 degree method for adjusting the belt tension to silence the crickets.

It was Buddy Holley and the Crickets.

Real answer is your belt probably was getting wet. You know how wet tennis shoes squeak across the floor? Same principle.
