Title: vacuum lines
Post by Keith55 on 06/15/08 at 14:51:50

Hello all
I'm new here and have just got a 1987 savage. this thing has set for years and has had many owners. there are two tubes that come off the back of the carb that someone has just looped a tube to both points. Can anyone tell me where these are suposed to go? Is this a comon thing people do to these bikes or what? I have not owned a bike in 20 years .  The bike will start but  seams to be starving for fule.
any help please.
Keith

Those two tubes are vent lines, if the previous owner connected them together he/she was an idiot. Just run the open ends of the tubes up under the seat.

nope, hense the term vent lines

they are there to reduce the chance of it overflowing and spilling out durring a tip over

No, they do not connect to anything. They are vent tubes. Some people run them to vent into the air box but that is only personal preferance. Mine are just run up under the seat and zip tied to the frame to keep them out of sight.

i have an 87 and the starter has never seemed to drag to me, unless the battery had a low charge.
