Title: New here - A few questions about replacement parts
Post by fishtail on 06/14/08 at 23:14:23

Hello all... GREAT FORUM! I'm having a blast reading all the pages of posts.

I've got a '98 that is pretty much all stock except an HD pipe and some bags.  I've seen some pics here of folks who've put forward pegs on.  I'm really interested in this, but am having a hard time finding a good link to where I can get some.  I've always thought it would be nice to somehow mount some pegs on the forks, but I've never seen this done.  Can someone give me a good link to some highway pegs?

I also want a viser for my headlight.  I saw a thread here the other day with a link to one, but I cannot find it now.

And... finally, I'm wondering if anyone has ever changed the rims on their Savage?  I think some solid rims like the HD Fatboy would look really nice, but I have no idea where to get some that would fit?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

The Marketplace section of this site has Ed L's forward controls listed, I believe.  The headlight visor thread was titled "Adding some bling."  You can find the link you mentioned there.

Can't help you on the wheel issue.  Sorry.

the only wheels i have seen get put on are suzuki gs wheels, and they areuired a little modification. kustom jim put an 18 inch rear wheel on his, but other than the size i dont know anything about it. hd fatboy wheels would probably be a chore to put on, and then if you get them on, they act like a sail when the wind blows, not really what you want in a light bike. IMHO

Nice call.  Probably more trouble than it's worth.

Thanks for all the input, folks.

Not a good idea to have the feet anywhere near the forks and the front wheel.

See the whale thread for wheels

Why not?

Also, I looked, but could not find any "whale" thread?  :-/

Because those are moving parts.  High speed moving parts in some cases.  How you gonna keep up on square dance night at the Elks Lodge if you only have 6 1/2 toes?

While missing toes would have me worried, I'd be more concerned about the flight afterwards.    :o
