Title: EMGO Oil filter question Post by Jay on 06/12/08 at 06:31:39 I ordered the EMGO aftermarket oil filter (good price at Bike Bandit). I was assured that, though the box says LS650, it would fit the S40. I get the order in, and it says LS650 '86-'88, and it's alot shorter. Same diameter, just shorter. Unfortunately I don't have one of my factory jobs to compare it too.I foolishly put that in the bike last oil change. The order number for this part is DM09DUH, SN#1935692. Does anyone have experience with these filters in the Savage/S40? Will they fit/function in my 2008 model? Thanks Savages. Ride safe, Jay |
Title: Re: EMGO Oil filter question Post by skrapiron on 06/12/08 at 07:23:51 It works ok. It lets in alot more air than the stock filter. But it does a poor job of actually filtering anything. If you're looking for a good filter, then I would suggest the one sold here at Suzukisavage.com. It is custom made to Lancer's specs (he's a perfectionist!). It fits without modification, provides superior filtering than the Emgo or the K&N, yet allows more air flow. I would forget about the cheap imitations and get the real thing... |
Title: Re: EMGO Oil filter question Post by verslagen1 on 06/12/08 at 08:34:53 Shouldn't be an issue, there's a spring to accommodate variations in filter depth |

Title: Re: EMGO Oil filter question Post by Jay on 06/12/08 at 16:39:12 Thanks guys for the info. Good to know the spring will take up the slack in the shorter EMGO filter. Ride safe, Jay |
Title: Re: EMGO Oil filter question Post by barry68v10 on 06/14/08 at 09:03:07 BTW, the EMGO filter will also allow the addition of a good magnet behind it. You can find details posted in the tech secton... |
Title: Re: EMGO Oil filter question Post by Jay on 06/14/08 at 19:40:00 barry68v10, Thanks for the suggestion. I've read that post in the tech section, and am considering it. Supposed to be getting a magnetic oil drain plug for father's day. Wife says "that's a stupid gift idea", she just doesn't get it. We'll see tommorrow. :) Ride safe, Jay |
