Title: Do I need to change jets? Post by Skeeter on 06/11/08 at 19:11:32 I just bought a 96 Savage 650. It has a Jardine pipe and it backfires loud when I shut it off. Also it pops when changing gears and it shoots a flame out of the pipe about a foot long and the pipe is discolored where it has been really hot. I was told it was running rich so I took out the air filter to see if more air would help and it now seems worse. I need some advice. Thanks |

Start with this one: http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?board=tech;action=display;num=1157720585 and take it from there. Put the air filter back in first, though. |
Title: Re: Do I need to change jets? Post by justin_o_guy2 on 06/11/08 at 20:01:12 Have ya looked at the plug? If its running rich, now, what would happen if it was even richer? TRy it, pull the choke out 1/2 way, then al;l the way, & see, cuz it doesnt restrict airflow, it just adds gas, so you can use that, kinda sortaish, while deciding what the carb needs. You could drop the bowl & see what jet you are running. |
