Title: Mikuni Carb Jet Numbers??
Post by saratovich on 06/06/08 at 18:12:04

I'm shopping jets, but really haven't seen info for which carb they work with other that the main jet which was noted for the BS series. From the info I gathered, the 80s carbs in the BS series are type III?

There are a couple of different pilot jets I've seen. The OEM doesn't have holes in the long part where the other one does? What is the difference?

Here's what I'm looking at. Are these the right model/part numbers for the BS40??

Thanks guys!

MIKUNI PILOT JET BS30/96 #55
MIKUNI MAIN JET N100.604 #150

I'm glad you asked this question, as I've been doing the same thing. Without trying to hijack you, may I add another question into the mix?

What is the "pilot air jet?"  Mine is a 67.5, which strikes me as humongous.  Is that something different from the pilot jet?

that's the correct types - the pilot w/o holes is a N151.067

Jump right in, I'm still trying to wrap my head around the way carb functions.

Hmmm...  I looked at those pictures one hundred and forty eleven times, and never saw the pilot air jet clearly indicated by a huge red arrow until now.  Trained observer, my a$$! ;D

It really is a pretty good carb - I know some folks don't like it - or any vac slide CV carb for that matter - once you get the hang of it this BS40 is fairly easy to work with once those dang screws are replaced with stainless allen heads you can rejet it in 5 minutes or so and it keeps a pretty solid tune on it at least here through the winter/summer

Thanks for the parts number help . . .

I'd much prefer to have the correct parts BEFORE i have the thing torn apart in front of me!  ;D
