Title: new bars w/ diy risers (pics)
Post by serowbot on 06/03/08 at 19:02:02

Just added 26" drag bars.  Made the risers out of kids freestyle bike footpegs.  As a side note, if you look closely at the right mirror stem, you can see the luggage lock that I use as an odometer.

I've also added a chrome rear fender rack.

Those look nice.  What I really want to know is how you keep that bike so clean.  I've about given up washing mine.  I can spend all the time in the world scrubbing and polishing and whispering sweet nothings to my bike.  Then ride it ten miles and it's filthy.

I'm about to go back to the cleaning program I use for my truck... Let it build up until it falls off from it's own weight.

Your bike looks really sharp. 8-)

"those are sick, did you just get long bolts for em?"

Yup, I had to use SAE bolts to find the 6" length I needed but they still take a 14mm wrench.

"What I really want to know is how you keep that bike so clean. "

It looks a little cleaner in the pic than it really is, but I use a pump cleaner called "Black Magic" (no water)before any day ride, usually twice a week.  Takes about 5 minutes.  I make it part of my routine along with the tire/oil/lights/loose parts check.

"Sick", is a good thing, right?... :-/

I think in that context it was.  I'm home sick today, and it doesn't seem so nifty.
I gotta brush up on my slang a little bit, but I think he was saying, "cooool, man!"  :)

yes, "sick" is easily used as a synonym for "awesome," "cool," and "swell"

such as "man, that dude is so sick"
or
"that 360 bone-flip-tailpipe-grabspin was so siiiiiiick"

also in common use

"tight"
as in "that nuts is tight bro"

"sick nasty"
as in "that nuts was sick nasty bro"

That was a sick way to tell us what it means.

Now that I've read all that, I am sicker than before.  That's worse than trying to order coffee these days.  "I'll have a half-caf, double squirt, blah, blah, blah, flip-flop.  And make it really sick... dude."

Whatever happened to "Hiya, Madge.  Gimme a cuppa coffee."

Sorry.  I'm a bit of a curmudgeon today.

Not only sick, but cheap!  You can buy them new for $10.00, I got'em ages ago at a yard sale for a buck.  Had no idea at the time what I'd use them for.  Bolts and locknuts cost me $2.00.

Risers -$1.00
Nut and Bolts -$2.00
Sick Bike    -priceless!
