Title: Ride to supermarket and back

Videos, 28+ megs each:

Camera mount works acceptably.  No vibrations sitting at idle.
Going home, since there is no left turn out of the parking lot onto Van Ness, I sneak out the backside walkway....

Have to do something about the wind noise.

28 megs is a huge file -- takes me about three minutes to download.  Maybe I should see if I can put up on you-tube, I think they compress like crazy.

A wonderful idea.  28 megs takes me about 12 minutes to download.  But I would love to see it.  I've been wondering how that mount worked out.

Took me less than a minute to download each segment. Cool video. what kind of camera are you using?

Camera is a DXG model 568, 5 megapixels.

Pretty neat.  I think I'm going to have to experiment some with that.  I wonder how a bit of foam over the mic would affect the wind noise?

My camera is too bulky to do the helmet cam thing, but I'll bet it would sit on the handle bars alright.

Why are you parking on the sidewalk?

Why on earth wouldn't you park on the sidewalk?  leave the parking spaces for the cars, and if the sidewalk is covered, even better.

Take your pick:

Because there are no designated motorcycle parking spaces.
Because I am too courteous to hog a cage space.
Because the advantage of a bike is parking next to the entrance.
Because the employee who usually parks there is off.
Because the guy with the 'Wing isn't hogging it.

Looks like the cops know you're riding. Passed you going both ways.

Do you have a Tach??   Idle sounds low and the stalling would confirm it.

Hey,  my old stock muffler sounds like a old V-Dub...... looks like it would fit right in...   ;D

Idle is low, engine was cold.  I run abusively low rpms, don't need a tach to tell me that.  Tho' can't be too bad as I have yet to even look at the sparkplug in 3.5 years/18,000+ miles.

I have never been pulled over on a bike.  Average roughly 7 years between pullovers in the cage, one lifetime moving violation.

Gotta figure out how to mount the camera to the helmet.

I would be more worried about the Cam journal getting oil starved....

Great videos, had the same problem with wind noise when I tried to record some riding last year. Anything over 25mph would just be noise, no thumper.I ended up taping some gauze across the mic which helped. I bet foam rubber would work even better.

I gave it a whirl today, Paladin.  My camera is a Minolta Dimage Z1, which is a lot bulkier than the nifty little palm cameras they're building these days.  You gave me the bug though, so I just shortened up the strap, slung it around my neck, and took off.  It came out alright for the first try.  Gotta fool with the automatic white adjustment and deal with the wind noise.  Over about 20 mph it's just a roar.

Thanks for the idea.  I see a new hobby coming on.
