Title: What handlebars/riser setup are you running ?
Post by strangeling on 05/29/08 at 16:55:24

I thought it would be cool to check out the different bar/riser combo's we are running. So post some pics !

Actually I do have a motive behind this as I am bored of my current setup and want some ideas  ;D

Here's mine S40 with savage low risers and 6" Z-bars.

On KLX I have 34.5" wide flat bars on MFW Vario risers (75mm).
The bars were free (a piece of 7/8" tube from a friend) the risers were £87.99.(are available in 1" diam)
In the pic they are unpainted and missing the left hand grip.

The round knurled link between the U arms appears to be a seperate piece. Are the vario risers splined or knurled to prevent rotation there during a jump or hard stop?

How can you be bored with those?  Rotate them back and you got more of a pullback setup.  Flip'em upside down and you got clubmans.

Verslagen, everyone thinks I'm nuts wanting to change from the Z-bars and maybe I am. I wish I didn't get bored of stuff so easy as its a costly attribute to have. Maybe I'll keep em  ;D

if you want to change em up i will be glad to take them off your hands.     how about going back to stock  07  drags?

trade ya straight up (said in a joking tone, but serious if you think you want to)

Jomiyo,

I like how you think but I've been down that road so going back to stock wouldn't cure my boredom. But nice try !  ::)

Hey Rigidchop do you have a pic of the 4" Z-bars on your bike, I would just like to see how they look compared to the 6" Z's.

Hey wrenchbender there is a slot in each side of the round knurled link and it is bolted on both sides so it does not move.
If you slacken the original handle bar clamps you can move the risered bars foreward and backward quite a bit.

Thanks rigidchop for posting the pics. The smaller rise Z's look pretty dang cool.

It shows how versatile this bike is as all the riser/bar setups you guys have posted look cool.  :)

Switched to this set of low buckhorns yesterday from the stock drag bar/high riser combo. Had them twisted a bit further forward than in photo, but brought them back a bit with hopes of reducing numbness in my arms. Originally tried them inverted..decided while I liked the look, didn't think I'd care for the subsequent indentations they'd leave in the tank.

Wrenchbender, good lookin' setup. I had the same thing in mind for my bike. Any clearance issues to speak of, the pic looks like there aren't any.

The other thing that I've seen is a backward set of deuce risers with drag bar combo. This will push the bars forward a bit, but for us big guys that seems to make sense. Some guy in canada was listing his bike on craigslist and I saw the setup. Might end up going that way. I'll post some pics if I get the chance.

As it's currently set-up everything clears everything. I should have said I had the bars inverted on the stock 06 tall riser and while it too cleared ok, it looked and felt funky. Plus the cables were at their limits.
That's why the left switch assembly appears twisted too far forward as I originally drilled them for the inversion.

If I find a compromise riser that I like, may try the inverted look again. Makes me feel like I'm 12 years old ...know what I mean?

Would like to see those photos you mentioned.
