Title: Reversed the risers and my butt hurts less.
Post by Jay on 05/25/08 at 19:57:53

I'd read a post in here a while back (looked, but couldn't find it) about reversing the handlebar risers for a longer reach. While I'm not particularlly tall (5'11"), I do have rather long arms, and felt a little cramped at the controls. Reversed the risers, rotated the handlebars up an inch or so, and low and behold a new riding postion is born! It took the sway out of my back and allows me to ride with more of my hind meat on the seat, instead of just my tail bone. I was just looking for more comfort in arms and shoulders; but got a bit more comfort on the stock ('08 S40) seat to boot! The big plus is it's so easy to do. Maybe 20 minutes start to finnish. Oh, the original poster said to be sure to put a towel over the tank to prevent the bar falling and scatching the tank. Definately do that. I did, and it saved me from what would have been a nasty scratch.
Ride safe,
Jay

Glad you liked my idea. It worked for me, and just made sense to take the weight off your tailbone and put it on your butt meat and the back of your legs.  I did the same thing on my 120HP bike by going with straight risers with drags bars, and taking the pull back one piece bars off from it.   Hutch

Thank you Hutch!
Man, I looked all over for your post. I couldn't for the life of me remember who's it was. I read it in passing, and then on a ride I got to thinking "that guy is on to something." What a great, simple mod. Thanks again.
Ride safe,
Jay

Sorry gungho, I don't have a way to post pics. Rather, I have the technology, but my kids aren't around to show me how to use it. :-[
Gosh I feel so old and out of date right now. ::)
Ride safe,
Jay
