Title: Asjusting belt tension
Post by Christian O Reilly on 05/25/08 at 16:01:36

Hi folks,
The savage I bouth came with no toolkit... so no belt tension gauge. Does anyone of you have any hint on how I can ajust my savage's belt without the use of this gauge?

Right now I'm bidding on a gauge on E-bay but I'm not sure I'm willing to outbid again if there's an easy way to adjust correctly the belt without this tool...

Thanx for any comments.

90 degree method. Save your money.

Tighten the belt until you can only turn the center of the belt 90 degrees without straining.

That's what we all do. The belt tension gauge is a joke to start with.

Ilost my gauge before I found this forum. Sadly, I paid for another. That thing is worse than useless. Too tight if the gauge is used. I dont even know where mine is. I may have tossed it in the "Junk Metal" stack.
