Title: Just installed Mini apes (pics of apes)
Post by YonuhAdisi on 05/23/08 at 21:58:57

Just got done installing the 10 inch rise mini apes I ordered from the Harley shop. DANG THEY LOOK GOOD!!!

I'll have to get pictures tomorrow as it's dang near 11:00pm right now.

Just had to re-route some cables and that's it, a pretty much straight swap.

They ran me about 150.00 give or take, don't have the receipt handy. Been sanding on my Road King tank all morning so haven't had a chance to take pics of the apes yet. And then my dang clutch cable snapped. (not apes fault, just very weak cable, was about to go anyway) Good thing I know how to speed shift it.  ;)

Suzuki stealership was closed but I got a clutch cable for a CB550 from the Honda shop and it works perfectly. He even let me take it home and try it out first, and he said if it works I could pay him for it on Tuesday when they open. I wish my local Suzuki stealership would do that.

Very cool! You didnt have to extend the wires or cables or anything? What about the hole for the throttle sleeve housing did you have to drill one? I just ordered some Biltwell Keystone bars and i cant wait to get them so i can put them on. Nice job man.

Yes, I did have to drill a small hole on both ends of the bars for that little spot you're talking about, but it was easily done. No, I didn't have to lengthen the cables any, just re-routed them slightly.

Before there is any mis-conceptions, my original bars were pullback/buckhorns so the cables were long enough for the 10 inch mini apes. However if your original bars are drag bars then you will have to get longer cables.

Very cool! I really like that look. I just might have to do the same to mine.
