Title: redlines Post by BurnPgh on 05/23/08 at 15:20:49 On my rebel there were literally "red lines" along the speedo to show redline speeds with the lack of a tach. Anyone know the redline speeds in the various gears on the savage? I shift well before redline but it'd still be nice info to have. Nice to know how far I can push it safely. I searched and found various references to redlining but not to actual redline speed. |
Title: Re: redlines Post by dj-omaha on 05/23/08 at 15:39:06 manual says: 1 to 2: 12mps, 2 to 3: 19. 3 to 4: 25, 4 to top: 31....top back down to four at 19mph |
Title: Re: redlines Post by BurnPgh on 05/23/08 at 15:46:46 those are recommended shift points for either break in or economy. I want to know how fast I can go in each respective gear without damaging the engine. |
Title: Re: redlines Post by justin_o_guy2 on 05/23/08 at 17:27:53 The bike will make you want to shift before you get it wound out to the point of danger of damage. Its no fun after it stops pulling in first & second & third & fourth. Why would anyone not shift? The torque drops off long before the red line. |
Title: Re: redlines Post by verslagen1 on 05/23/08 at 17:51:56 I got my redlight set at 5500 so I'm sure not to hit it. 7? mph in 4th 84 mph in 5th I'm a little to busy to notice the others. And yeah, it's pulling up to that point, but dropping off quick. ;D |
