Title: My Savage Bobber/Rat and Intro Post by RyanRC187 on 05/21/08 at 14:44:31 Just wanted to introduce myself here. I have a 1987 Savage that definitely has an interesting flavor to it - I bought it a few months ago. Unfortunately she currently won't start and before that she was having some engine hesitation problems. I look forward to getting those issues resolved (any guidance?) and then hopping back on it... You can only ride a ZX-6R so often. ;) |

Title: Re: My Savage Bobber/Rat and Intro Post by Hell, Billy on 05/21/08 at 22:27:41 Yeah, and after the spark test [live it up and buy a new plug], your next step is to clean that funky old carb-which is often the case on old bikes. Nice looking bike, good luck. Bill |
Title: Re: My Savage Bobber/Rat and Intro Post by RyanRC187 on 05/22/08 at 03:19:45 Thanks guys. I'll be sure to check out those issues this afternoon/tomorrow. Its going to be incredible having a 4.5 day weekend after working 80+ hour weeks... I think the hesitation/stuttering issues may get resolved. However, regarding the bike not starting - The last time I tried what happened was that I heard a short "buzz" sound come from the rear portion of the bike (similar to a fuse burning out) and then saw a bit of smoke rising from around the rear-right of the bike near the tire... I might have to just take the bike in to resolve that issue as I don't have any experience with electrical systems. And I'll try and snap a few pictures of the side/rear of the bike as well. Also, heres my other bike if any of you are sportbike enthusiasts. 8-) http://photos-g.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v241/23/56/5205683/n5205683_43825606_5424.jpg |

Nice rat bike! Just by coincidence, and accident, I happened to buy some handlebars somewhat like those only a bit longer. They got here (fairly cheap eBay buy) and weren't what I was expecting. I thought they had some rise to them; but they're all pullback and no rise like the ones on your bike. Now that I see them on your bike I may go to the effort to mount them on one of my 99s. :D 8-) |
