Title: clutch
Post by NDBiker on 05/18/08 at 05:41:10

So I had to buy a clutch cable.  It came in yesterday.  I go and look at my bike which has been sitting locked up and covered behind my apartment this last week.  The clutch arm has NO tention to it and is just spinning.  I would attempt to fix it myself but I have no place to do this.  I now have to take it (some how) to a shop that will over charge me to get it fixed.   I could cry right now.

Well.   there are a couple of little thing that could be broke.    Unfortunately, you (or someone) needs to take the side cover off the look at it.  thats a oil drain and new gasket.   The most expensive part is if the arm broke,  runs around $55-$60.    All of the other parts that actuate the clutch are less than $10 .

I would have to take the whole engine off the frame still wouldn't I?

no you can do it in the frame - pull the exhaust and such out of the way - off with the case cover and see what broke -

I broke # 23 once, noticed the clutch getting softer and softer and first start after overnight being crunchy. The part just broke in two pieces. Could easy be a parking lot fix unless you have a patrol that would come around and bug you.
