So I have been toying with the thought of getting a bike. i have been browsing for awhile and today I ran across a bike here locally. It is a '03 model with 20-something k miles. The pics he sent looked great, but I will be needing the bar that goes around the rear seat and the blinkers, also a battery cover. Anyways, without even driving it I have him down to $1300. After looking at quite a few beginners bikes, I feel this is a very good deal. Thoughts? Any advice for a newbie? (Been several years since I've ridden a bike)

sounds like a steal. so be careful.

runs? do you have a friend that can check it out?

where are you at? One of us certainly can check it for you.

The thing to be wearry of at this mileage is the cam chain. It needs to be inspected and may need some work.

I'd pick it up in a heartbeat ;D

I would want to drain oil & run a magnet thru it. Its past time for a cam chain. Is it done?

Maybe one of the guys here does live close enough to go with you and would know how much you'd wind up spending on it to fix it up :)

if had room and that bike runs without the engine knocking like a johndeere tractor for $1300 bucks - it would already be in my garage -

and it was at lease fairly close to me - say within a 100 miles
