I sold my savage a while back now I'm looking into buying another one.
I found when locally that the owner said requires a new starter. I checked the parts list and couldn't seem to find the part. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Found it, but it's pricey. Might want to post in the Marketplace and see if anyone has a used one they'll sell you. I found it, I think, on BikeBandit for $282.50. Part number is 490893-001.

If it is an 86-88 model, I'd want to see the left hand side case off and assure myself that no damage had occurred to the starter gears and shafts as that has been a problem with those years when they backfire and try to turn backwards in startup !! Max
