Title: Hagon Shocks -- Two-up at last! Post by drharveys on 05/10/08 at 11:40:04 My wife agreed that she would finally take another ride on the back of the Savage. I had put on Hagon shocks, set them for maximum pre-load, and filled the tires to 29/36. She likes it! :D No bottoming out, and the ride was smooth. The last time she rode pillion on the Suzuki, her lower back was sore for a week. This time, all is well. Now I'm not suggesting that we ride it to Chicago -- that would be dumb. However, for around town and for errands and a restaurant run -- well, now we can do that at 60 mpg! http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e204/drharveys/Suzuki/BILD0059.jpg |
Title: Re: Hagon Shocks -- Two-up at last! Post by Keith_T on 05/10/08 at 13:07:35 Why Hagon instead of Progressive shocks? How long are those and what is the spring rate? |
Title: Re: Hagon Shocks -- Two-up at last! Post by drharveys on 05/10/08 at 14:38:25 Hagons -- because I was also getting some shocks for a Triumph and was in a British mood. Nothing wrong with Progressives either. As for the length, I stuck with stock. The main things were getting a dual rate spring and having the correct preload. |

Title: Re: Hagon Shocks -- Two-up at last! Post by drharveys on 05/11/08 at 16:27:37 Yup! Now all I have to do is decide whether or not to reduce the preload when I'm riding solo. Gee, I guess I'll have to put a few miles on the bike both ways. It's tough, but sometimes you gotta just do what ya gotta do! |

Title: Re: Hagon Shocks -- Two-up at last! Post by drharveys on 05/12/08 at 08:33:07 Starts at $218 a pair. Extra shrouds and chrome costs, well, extra. http://www.davequinnmotorcycles.com they're the US distributor -- very helpful in picking the right ones. |
