Title: Supertrapp etc. Post by Crotchrocket on 05/01/08 at 16:34:54 My local rapist (dealer) quoted me $334 bucks for a Supertrapp slip on. I had to say no, hoping someone on here can recommend a better place to buy parts. Any ideas? And I did have to let him take me for $80 for a new shift linkage. I feel I paid my dues for that one. I'd rather take my business elsewhere. And yes I understand they're a dealer and have to make money some way, but come on. So guys, what do you say you help out the new guy! 1. Where to get a Supertrapp 2. Where to get genuine Suzi parts without going through the dealer I'm grateful to be a member of this board. Thanks so much. -Geoff |

Parts in general are cheaper on line. What you pay extra for is to get them immediately. And if he don't have them, don't buy from him. There's been a number of super's available used here, but you have to be patient. And for new, that's not to bad, last time I looked it was $285 new, plus shipping that's pretty close. |
Title: Re: Supertrapp etc. Post by Gort on 05/01/08 at 17:03:29 Genuine Suzuki parts are available at: www.ronayers.com Sure you want a Supertrap? Thats a lot of $! A Harley muffler on Ebay is way cheaper, fits easy and sounds good. |

Thanks for the advise. I lost the use of my hands due to a form of Parkinson's Disease so I want true bolt-on parts. I do like the looks of the Hog mufflers, I just can't do any fab work. I can't really hold tools very well anymore. |
Title: Re: Supertrapp etc. Post by Reelthing on 05/01/08 at 18:25:14 matter of fact www.crotchrocket.com is usually the lowest cost of the online stores |

I'm getting the arm gear assembly, the rod, and gear lever assembly. The rod was bent all out of shape when I got the bike and I couldn't adjust the gear lever position. Then when I tried to just replace the rod link, if broke off inside the socket part whatever it's called. I went to the dealer and just told him I wanted it to be fixed right. This should do the trick. Total cost $84 bucks and that's doing the work myself. |
Title: Re: Supertrapp etc. Post by steely on 05/02/08 at 19:53:37 Another couple of ideas for mufflers are the MAC and Jardine mufflers. Neither are tunable like the Trapp, but there are true bolt -on applications. I have the MAC on my bike currently and I just got a spankin' new Jardine from ebay for about $100. Patience is the key. |
Title: Re: Supertrapp etc. Post by NikoruWiriamu on 05/03/08 at 18:52:09 Best mod on my bike I have ever done was put a SuperTrapp on it. Loudest pipe you will ever find, unless you run straight headers. ;D Hm. I bought mine..and it was a little over $200. I would suggest not paying over $260. I really wish I could upload a sound file, but I haven't been able to find anything that could record how loud it is without the baffle. I rev, and baby angels fall from the sky! ;) |

Ahahah. Yes, that's me! Well, at least it keeps people off my tushy when I ride to work. ;D I don't get tailgaters anymore. That, and when I ride alone, I always keep my headlight modulator on so I'm seen and heard. ;) |
Title: Re: Supertrapp etc. Post by feelinjunky on 05/04/08 at 18:43:41 I have a general question for supertrapp owners: does adding or subtracting the number of disks from the muffler give a noticeable change in power and sound? It's just hard to believe that screwing on a disk onto a muffler can give you a softer muffler without sacrificing power... |

You add disks for a freer flowing muff and it'll increase sound too. If you don't rejet, it'll go lean on you. Rejetting is where your power comes from. |
Title: Re: Supertrapp etc. Post by Rockin_John on 05/04/08 at 22:35:52 The 99 I bought a couple of weeks ago came with a SuperTrapp installed, and from what I can tell it seems to be jetted right for it (No WOT top speed run yet on that bike due to weather cracked tires). I will say this for the 'trapp pipe: I prefer the sound of it to either Harley muffler I have installed, or the pretty much straight through bologna turnout that is much louder. The Supertrapp just has a good healthy note to it without being obnoxiously loud. (Mine looks to have a half dozen discs and a cover disc over the end. I'd have to say the trapp is my favorite sounding pipe of the ones I've had installed. And performance wise I think it may add a little pull in the mid to upper RPM range without degrading the bottom end grunt noticeably. 8-) |
