Title: Where do you keep your information?
Post by SimonTuffGuy on 04/27/08 at 16:58:44

I've got my insurance information, a temporary registration and my pink bill of sale that need to stay with the bike at all times until my actual papers come in... Where is the best place to keep them on the bike?

I've opted to utilize the storage box for the toolkit to keep the 3 papers in a ziploc baggy.

On that note... Is this darn toolkit supposed to fit in there properly? It seems like it would be a REALLY tight fit and not want to stay on. Plus, it seems as though the seal on the piece isn't that great.

Any ideas? :)

Same here.  I use a doubled up zip-loc since there is some rubbing and I don't want a hole in it that may make it get wet in the rain.    Yes, tools fit a certain way to "best fit" the tool box.

Driver's license, registration, and proof of insurance are in my wallet.  Bike is more likely to be lost or stolen than my wallet.

I was able to laminate my stuff at work and put them in the tool box - tight fit - but it works - Here in Maryland the title paperwork is seperate from the registration, so I keep that at home in the safe.

wallet.  i never leave paperwork in any vehicle i own. then when it's stolen the thief won't have acces to it.

I keep my stuff in my wallet as well. If a cop pulls you over and asks for it, it is much easier and less stressful to the cop if it is right there in your wallet. (cops have a tendency to get nervous when someone begins reaching into an unusual compartment for their paperwork.)

In my wallet, which is in my purse, which is in my saddlebag. The purse is with me when I am not riding - I never leave important stuff in the saddlebags.
I am guessing most of you guys skip the purse part.  ;D

And I agree - cops don't like it when you pull out a wrench or screwdriver to access your registration papers... ;)

In PA you're required to carry proof of ownership and insurance... So those things must be kept accessible if you're ever pulled over.

Hopefully that'll never happen on the bike, but you never know.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm thinking about keeping the stuff in my wallet when the permenant cards come in the mail. :)
