Title: Newbie with an 2003 Post by Doug A on 04/05/08 at 10:04:13 Hi guys! I have been lurking for a month or so. I just purchased my first bike a few weeks ago. A beautiful 2003 Savage with 2600 miles on it. It is in mint condition. She runs like a charm. I bought a Clymer manuel and can't figure out how often I should be changing the oil! It looks like I should replace the filter every 4,000 miles or 12 months, but I am sure I should be changing the oil more often. Am I missing something? Oh, I live in central Utah and am looking forward to taking some scenic day trips this year through Zions, Canyonlands, and a few other drives. Thanks in advance, Doug.

Title: Re: Newbie with an 2003 Post by sluggo on 04/05/08 at 10:34:37 i do about 5000 miles min a season. i change twice a year. once in spring. then late july early aug. i've done this with delo -400 10-40 since i got my o4 and with my last thumper that lasted over 20 years and 98,000 miles... others are sure to chime in, but this has worked for me for so long i feel comfortable recommending it to others.
