Title: Thumpin’ agin: new S40 and oem accessory thoughts
Post by spotrot on 03/27/08 at 16:15:29

'Just bought a metallic blue 0-mile '07 S40 from Powersports in Clearwater FL. Trevor and Andy treated me well: paid $3,300 plus some dlr mark-ups.

They also matched oneida prices on
part                          cost          p/n                           list
Back rest            136      46200-24812      $175
Luggage rack      074      990A0-75029      $123
Gel seat (front/rear)      180      990A0-71017      $250 - pillow
And gave a lifetime 10% off on all parts (even for my ‘busa)

I’ll let you know how the seat feels. It appears the same as the “classic” except the “pillow” has four buttons located on centerline. If anyone likes I’ll post a pic if I figure out how.

My wife almost allowed a 0 mile ‘07 SV650 ($5,500) but finally fell off the fence thinking she wants to drive too.

On the way home, I couldn’t help but smile. It’s like driving a ’65 Mustang convertible, just pure fun.

I have to eliminate the back fires in 3-lane city traffic, too many Florida drivers are either very old, edgy or carry guns! ;D

How much did you pay? with dealer markups.

The lowest I'd heard of for paperwork , prep etc for a new bike is around $250, so if that seems right the cost was about 3,700 plus tax and tag.

The next choice was an 06 w/258 miles for about $600 less out the door, but with no warranty, 6 hrs x 2 people driving and a year older, we went for the local 07.

Plus a manual and a full tank of gas.
