got my new 07 s40 today.dealer didn't send an owner manual with it so i'm refering to the pdf in the tech links . the shifter lever seems a bit tight for the boots i'll probably be wearing, can't easily get my toe under to upshift. any suggestions?

I've also thought about getting the floorboards.....I'm wondering if that will change the position of things.

There are 3 things i can think of that might work.

1. get a longer connecting rod for the shifter. That would change the angle of the lever so that your boot doesn't have to turn down so far to slip under it. However, it might make getting your foot on top of the peg to downshift a bit more cumbersome.

2. replace the lever with a longer one. This would give you more space between the peg and the lever. I don't know if thats an available part or if you would have to machine it yourself.

3. steal a heel-toe shifter from a harley or comparable cruiser so you don't have to put your foot under the lever at all.

hopefully one of those options is easy and cheap enough that you can get it to work.

The shifter's really easy to adjust. An adjustable crescent wrench or appropriately sized wrench is all you need. Loosen the two nuts around the shift rod and rotate it. Off the top of my head, I cant remember which direction, but you can easily turn it and raise (in your case) or lower the shifter. After you have it set, simply tighten the nuts back down and you're ready to roll.

Yep,wrench is a 10mm,The jam nut at the shift lever is lefthand threads.Loosen the both jam nuts turn rod.You'll see shift lever moving.

Or get the dealer to tweak it for you . Takes just a few minutes.

Or you can loosen the shifter at the transmission and rotate it one spline, it will raise your shifter as well.

one of the threads on the shift rod is left handed. see tech sect.
