Title: Seat mod:  How high are we talking about?
Post by skrapiron on 02/24/08 at 17:27:35

I have heard alot of moding the stock seat position by adding washers to the bolts and something semi-rigid between the seat and the frame to off-set the additional space.

I have a few high density rubber isolation bushings that we use in some of our more sensitive component manufacturing.  The material is 3/8" thick and can be lightly tooled.

My question is, will a 3/8" lift in the front of the seat really make all that much difference?  (I am also planning to use the rubber spacer between the seat tongue and the tank tongue.

You guys that have lifted the seat, how much did you have to go up before you noticed a difference?

You're only lifting the front of the seat. You lift it enough to suit your particular discomfort problem. The idea is to get your body weight off of your delicates and shift it back to your "seat" area. I took mine up a couple of inches which helped a lot on the stock seat. The best move is to switch over to some kind of a saddle type seat if you're planning a lot of continuous riding time.
