Title: savage bobber w/ a cherry bomb Post by thump on 02/21/08 at 16:15:12 I recently bought this savage and turned it into a bobber. I just repainted and pinstriped it. I also cut the stock exhaust pipe and welded on a cherry bomb onto it and wraped the pipe with pipe wrap. The bike is super loud now but in a good super loud kinda way w/ a great tone. since I put the cherry bomb and pipe wrap on the bike has ran alot better and also gained lot more power! Title: Re: savage bobber w/ a cherry bomb Post by Onederer on 02/21/08 at 16:33:30 I noticed the voltage regulator is moved, sureley required by the bob. I'm planing on moving mine, because I think thats why the battery keeps drying out, overcharging. Most bikes have the reg in some kinda air flow, and not between the seat and fender. I think the reg overheats and losses ability to regulate. No regulating mean overcharging at sustained higher rpm's, hence dry battery. Nice paint scheme, and I also like the grips. |

Title: Re: savage bobber w/ a cherry bomb Post by feelinjunky on 02/22/08 at 06:16:40 I noticed you took all possible chrome off the bike. Is it because you don't like it, or are cleaning it? |
Title: Re: savage bobber w/ a cherry bomb Post by ohsixs40 on 02/22/08 at 23:48:28 awesome bike! I like the way it looks without the mirrors! |
Title: Re: savage bobber w/ a cherry bomb Post by babbalou on 02/23/08 at 14:38:35 Glasspacks sound amazing on this bike. I experimented with a couple of them when I had my S40; a short one with a large diameter core & a long one with a smaller diameter core. Both sounded like a subwoofer w/800 watts of deep bass booming out! WAY more power than the stock pipe too. The large one boosted top end power, the long thinner one boosted low end & mid-range & was a little quieter. Can't remember what I paid but I think they were under $30 each. Not a bad way to go. Some have about a 7 degree bend on the inlet so it lines up perfectly. |
Title: Re: savage bobber w/ a cherry bomb Post by Robertomoe on 02/23/08 at 17:56:48 what did you use to hardtail it? |
Title: Re: savage bobber w/ a cherry bomb Post by thump on 02/25/08 at 09:13:51 I have a starter switch that is under the seat. Almost all of the wiring is under the seat which causes a bit of a rats nest. I am now working on making a fake round oil tank to fit under the seat and to hide all of the wiring. I am still trying to figure out the best way to make the fake tank I bought the bike with alot of the crome already off of the bike. the hard tail mounts were also already on the bike. |
Title: Re: savage bobber w/ a cherry bomb Post by Robertomoe on 02/25/08 at 09:47:10 can you take some pics of the mounts? thanks |
Title: Re: savage bobber w/ a cherry bomb Post by vroom1776 on 02/25/08 at 09:53:06 cool! ditch the frotn brake, though. |
Title: Re: savage bobber w/ a cherry bomb Post by thump on 02/25/08 at 13:41:08 I will put some pic up tonight of the hard tail mounts. I wish I could take the front brake off but you have to have one in Alabama. |

Aaaaaaaaaa...... drive around a few days not using it. tape something to the lever to remind yourself to not touch it. I think you'll realize that stopping is a good thing ...... so much so that it over-rides "looks". |
Title: Re: savage bobber w/ a cherry bomb Post by thump on 02/25/08 at 14:57:14 yea stopping is pretty high up on my list of things I'd like my bike to do well. |
Title: Re: savage bobber w/ a cherry bomb Post by rigidchop on 02/25/08 at 15:33:11 i am so used to stopping with the rear only brake on my chop, i always forget about the front one. its kinda grabby anyway. |
Title: Re: savage bobber w/ a cherry bomb Post by steely on 02/25/08 at 16:12:36 darn nice looking bob. I am still trying to psych myself up to just go ahead and bob mine or find another one to bob. I love it! |
Title: Re: savage bobber w/ a cherry bomb Post by thump on 02/25/08 at 16:27:10 The stock savage is one of the easier bikes to bob i think. The savage already has a very classic look to it. |
Title: Re: savage bobber w/ a cherry bomb Post by vroom1776 on 02/26/08 at 14:17:09 re: front brake: I end up riding a lot more carefully w/o one. and I passed the liscense test w/o it... also, ever ride a bike w/ a front brake lever but no braking action? that S U C K S SUCKS! |

Title: Re: savage bobber w/ a cherry bomb Post by Jonny_Chicago on 03/01/08 at 16:14:59 What kind of handlebars are those? Were they hard to install? |
Title: Re: savage bobber w/ a cherry bomb Post by thump on 03/03/08 at 07:23:09 I bought the bike with the bars on it but I think they are harley drag bars. I have taken them off and put apes on the bike before but I put the low bars back on. they are no problem taking off and putting back on. |
Title: Re: savage bobber w/ a cherry bomb Post by Finnishbobber on 03/18/08 at 12:43:48 Hello from Finland! I´m building a bobber from my Savage. Unfortunately I´m not able to see pictures of this bobber discussed here. Is there a link to them or something!? Any good links or pics of Savage bobbers would be GR8 help with the project! :) |
Title: Re: savage bobber w/ a cherry bomb Post by demin on 03/18/08 at 13:22:10 It's not showing up for me either. |
