Title: Easy but Cool license plate placements mods...

I would like to get rid of the license plate/mudflap look and put it somewhere on the side sideways....just wanted to see what some of you guys had done and with what parts. I think here in VA the plate needs to have a light on it too

pics anyone?

In the next couple weeks i will be putting on a kuryakin - verticle side mount plate holder w/ run/brake light and I'll post some pics.  Havent decide just where yet but probably off the swing arm.

As for lights, Auto-Zone sells  license plate lights.  Several styles.

Bringing this thread back from the dead a little bit...

Anyone have pictures of their sideways plate? I want to remove the ugly stock mount as well and go sideways. :)

Here is my home made one made from scrap aluminum I found at work with tag light from autozone and chrome plate surround from Walmart.

Hmmm... That looks really cool. So much nicer than the stock location, that's for sure. :)

You don't run saddlebags at all, do you? Any idea if they would get in the way of the location of your plate?

I don't run saddlebags but I think you would have to probably use small slant style bags with the side mount plate.

What kind of tank it that? Does it hold more gas than the stock?

Duane,

I think that's a 2.4gal Sporty tank.  It's definitely Sporty, but never can be certain about capacities.

And +1 on the muffler and sheild.  Plus the handlebars are a little wide for that frontend, imho.  But you're the one riding it, and it looks loads better than mine.

Now I gotta go, my sprockets and chain just fell off the big brown truck.

In another thread I have started"'87 going on a diet" it's showing the progress of the change. There is alot to come including the muffler.
