Title: wacky idea question
Post by andylaughs on 02/16/08 at 19:11:40

Has anybody else had the idea of dropping a different engine into a savage frame? Nothing I'm planning on doing, but it must have been done before. Just imagine a KLR-powered, 320-lb bobber.

My wish has been to drop a LS650 engine into a larger frame.  Love the engine, wish the bike was a little bigger.

Manufacturers of pedal bicycles build the same model on different size frames for different size people.  It should not be that difficult for motorcycle manufacturers to do the same.  Exact same motorcyles except for a slightly longer/shorter frame.  Build the stretch into the front where the forks attach and/or lengthen the rear where is seat is.  Maybe a slightly larger/longer seat as well to keep the spaces filled.

i'm of the build a new bike around the engine.   the turtles are doing a v twin atv type machine that the savage engine would have been great for.

When Cafe ala Carte gets done it will be a Savage engine in a cafe frame/bike.
