Title: Re: K & N Filter Post by tinga on 02/13/08 at 14:24:03 check JC whitney, they have clamp on foam filters, are cheap and work excellent and when they get dirty toss it or shake it out. |

I'm still running a factory filter, and have noticed dust getting into the intake tract. Last filter I put in, I smeared filter rim grease on the foam sealing strips, thinking it was'nt sealing good. If I am still getting dust in there, then I'll buy one of those cone filters from here, cause I quit useing K&N's for the same reason. |

Probably would be a good choice. I assume you would have to remove the stock air box and I just wasn't ready to do that......yet. |
Title: Re: K & N Filter Post by Digger on 07/20/08 at 20:45:32 For future reference, I've been able to buy K&N air filters for motorcycles at Checker Auto. Just provide them the part number. Checker often offers percentage off coupons, you could use one for the filter. Cheaper than the bike shops. |
Title: Re: K & N Filter Post by SimonTuffGuy on 07/21/08 at 11:27:03 I just got the cone filter from the SuzukiSavage.com store. It looks great! I can't wait to install it. :) |

After poking around in my airbox a bit, it looks like maybe just take the entire airbox off and then put that cone filter in its place maybe? Anybody have info on how to do this or a link to someplace else on this forum that explains it? |
Title: Re: K & N Filter Post by SimonTuffGuy on 07/21/08 at 13:28:16 Here's a link of an install and re-jet: http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?board=RubberSideDown;action=display;num=1183926901 They just removed the hose connecting the stock airbox and carb and put the filter in place. I believe the stock airbox needs to stay there if you want to keep the sidepanels installed. There's a member floating around the boards with pictures of his removed and it looks pretty sweet... I just don't know if I want to rip my 07 bike apart or not! :-P I may remove the stock filter from its place and leave the rest of the box in there... I'm not sure yet, but open to suggestions from others if they have any. |
Title: Re: K & N Filter Post by Gort on 07/21/08 at 15:39:42 Heres a pic of the bike with cone filters for the carb and oil breather hose, and without side plates or airbox. The oil breather cone cost $9.00 and is here: http://www.autozone.com/R,NONAPP692/store,3339/initialAction,accessoryProductDetail/shopping/accessoryProductDetail.htm The carb cone cost $22.00 and is here: http://www.autozone.com/R,NONAPP669/store,3339/initialAction,accessoryProductDetail/shopping/accessoryProductDetail.htm No cone filter filters as good as the factory air filter, so I refused to pay big bucks for K&N or its clones. http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/kk80/tlukatch/CONEFILTERS.jpg |
Title: Re: K & N Filter Post by SimonTuffGuy on 07/21/08 at 18:18:35 I was looking at pictures of SavageGreg's bike with the air box removed. http://www.dillonpic.com/post/mybike/greg_650_4.jpg Beautiful! :) |
