So I'm gonna order a tach here pretty soon , but was also thinking about an oil temp gauge. Couple of ???'s. Anyone got one they really like? I prefer analog, and smaller is better. I found this one, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00029JZWS but was wondering what ya'll (yeah, I'm from Texas) thought. I've seen some different ideas on how to install the oil temp gauge, but was thinking of taking a different route. How about attaching the end of a lead to the rear screw of the neutral light switch, then running the lead out the same hole as the nls wire and install the gauge where you want? You would have to reseal the the exit hole for the wires, but wouldn't good ol' form-a-gasket or something similar work? That way the lead would be in the bottom of the case, in the oil, but out of the way. You would get accurate readings, and not have to worry about drilling anything!

I suggest using the oil pressuse test port hole. M145-1.25 threads. They make adapter to the 1/8" NPT of most sensors. (I really think the 5/8 NPT in the link you gave is a typo, it's almost inpossible to go from 5/8 to 1/4..... but super easy to go 1/8 to 1/4 NPT..)

had machine shop fab a brass adaptor for the front pressure port.can taap into adaptor if want to install oil cooler..highest temp ive seen was 150F when it was 100f ambient at a stop light..gauge you reference is for water the scale starts TOO high...

yea, i thought the temp range was adequate as well. (I wouldn't worry too much if the temp was below 100'!) It also says its an oil/water temp gauge, oil being the first thing mentioned in the name. Anyway, I like the look of the highway hawk better. Thanks for the input!

Personally, if you're going to spend the money, I'd get the VR gage and have the speed and tach to go with it. ;D

I thought long and hard on that, but, I'm just a big fan of analog on a setup like this. I want a needle and dial, not a glowing screen. 8-)

140F is norm running oil temp this should be near the center of the gauge(quick glance reference specially at speed) not the second hash mark in..gauge shown has 210 as center..
