Title: 95 Seat Change
Post by pradeepa on 01/24/08 at 18:40:50

I am looking online and found a seat, but it is for a 2002/03 model.  Does anyone know if it is still compatible with a 95?

All seats work on all years. I have a 2001 that had a two piece seat and replaced it with a one piece seat from a 2006. I would also suggest replacing the underseat mounting bolts with some hex caps. I can remove the seat much quicker with a t handle hex key than I ever could with a socket.

the looks of the seat are very different - where the '95 is a rib'd leatherette (that a word? ok vinyl) the '02 is a smooth dimpled material

I seem to recall a disclaimer on the Suzuki site about some of their late model S40 gel seats and other after market gadgets not being compatible with the earlier models. See their 'accessories' site for more info. Don't expect the dealership to be any help though.  >:(

I think the disclaimer is because you need to drill holes to put a one piece seat on a two piece seat  bike.

Well, to mount it the same as a new bike..... But, I just put a 06 seat on my '01 because my son said the '01 passenger seat was too stiff.   I put a rubber bumper in the rear bolt flange.  No holes drilled.  The One piece is a pain to get on & off though.   Because of the Sissy bar & pad you can't just pull it up.

Just another reason to clean up that rear fender. The sissy bar and the side rails needed to go. Good idea on the rubber bumper. I noticed mine stays off the fender about a quarter of an inch. I suspect it will allow adequate cooling for the electronics.
