Title: Belt drive pulley
Post by geo on 01/23/08 at 17:02:27

Can you get a smaller front sprocket/pulley for this bike?

When I had chain drive enduro motorcycle years ago, I could change to a smaller drive sprocket for boondock riding than I used for street riding. The smaller drive sprocket would give me a lot more pull in each gear, very important in climbing hills on trails.
I use the Savage for local riding mostly, and would like to be able to increase the final drive ratio and get more pull in each gear. I don't need to cruize at 75mph. I would like to get more acceleration in each gear and be able to use 4th gear as my top gear for running at 50-60mph. I rarely use 5th gear, and for my riding 5th is unnecessary. My 3rd gear works best for 40mph to 55mph and is used as top gear most of the time, so I don't use 4th gear that much either. :(

Never heard of one - but a chain drive conversion was worked out that should let you produce most any ratio wanted

think you got to go to chain to change in any direction...

I figured there was no smaller pulley but wanted to make sure. :'(

My milage isn't very good because I use the bike locally. I get about 80 miles per tankfull. It would do a lot better if I had a long run to work, but work is only 2 miles away. I do a lot better when I go joy riding.
